Why So Many Measurements for Custom Suits?
While ready-to-wear only needs height and weight, custom suits require 18-30 body measurements to create a properly fitted garment based on each person's unique physiology.
Standard Measurement Points (18 Required)
Circumference: chest, waist, hips, belly, neck, wrist. Width: shoulder width, chest width, back width, armpit width. Length: body length, sleeve length, back waist length, trouser length. Body shape: front chest depth, back thickness, belly (special body types).
Preparing for Measurements
Wear your usual shirt, maintain natural standing posture, inform the measurer of any style preferences (loose vs. fitted), and note special body characteristics (hunched back, sloping shoulders, large belly).
